Technique is overrated. We can barely sense variation in detail unless we dissect the subject slowly, so if we want to enjoy the actual moment, we must take a step back and appreciate the bigger picture. That’s where the moment thrives, and it is beautifully unique given that it will never reoccur again.

There is only so much one can work on the colour mix, practice technique and learn theory, but eventually one needs to brave a brushstroke and capture a moment. The joy resides in appreciating the uniqueness of that moment and accepting the shape of the stroke in it’s natural ruggedness.
